Just mix it half and half with straight Latakia and call it LARRY'S BURLEY CAKE- he will smoke it! I tried the sample that Russ had at Pipe Club and it is very good-man does not live by latakia alone. I'm hoping that comment will spur Larry to post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today being crappy and cool -I'm smoking a concoction of Penzance/Reiner Golden Flake/Prince Albert/Walnut-all leftovers mixed together -tried it in my award winning (slow smoke) corncob prior to going into a good pipe and it was pretty good- I'll just never be able to repeat the blend mixture-oh well...............

mayor
i have some cornell and diehl atlas balkan that is a very plain balkan blend.
not unpleasant but plain and very mild.
i have found it to be a great base to add things to.
somtimes its fun to play around doing this.
today i added some laticka and perique.
this really put some life into an otherwise boring blend.

*pipe2* All this talk about burley... I have to try to remember to try the Burley Kake ... the nicotine rush that Russ mentioned in regards to that cigar type blend also got my attention lol.

So many tobaccos to try, so little time.  *flirt*

Well, I got some samples of Balkan Virginia and Yenidje from the gentleman I talked to in Chicago. Some of you had a chance to sample a bowl from the early mixes, but I've had the chance to play around a little further, and I think I've hit on the right combination. It sort of comes across as somewhere between Sobranie and Bengal Slices. I've been smoking it regularly now, and I couldn't be much happier. I'll have some to try at our next meeting.

Sounds great Russ- can't wait to try it.

By the way- nobody has mentioned your Monty Python's John Cleese SILLY WALK- I really like the ID.

i thought that the sample that I had at the picnic was excellent. If Russ has made it even better, I can't wait to try it.

Just a thought for our Zenmaster Master Blender Russ- how about creating a blend (special) for the Capital District Pipe Club  and call it CDPC Blend 1. We could take a trial vote on different ones but I would think a blending of Larry's Blend and Ten to Midnite might be something special with possibly a special Scotch topping - not even sure what that would create but it might be fun trying. What do the rest of you think???????????????

I'd go for the Myocardial Infarction Russ had the other night.  Probably needs a different name like Its as close to pot as you can get legally or The Muncies or CDPC High

In any event - I want more of it.

Well, here we go again. I took the process that I used for Classic Burley Kake (without the pressing and slicing) and applied it to toasted Black Cavendish using Blackberry, Wild Berry, Black Currant and a hint of Brandy flavoring. The result is a non-goopy Black Cavendish with a big burst of berry aroma and a subtly-sweet berry flavor that burns slow and cool.
The blend is called Berry Nice, and I'll be bringing some to the store to put on the tobacco bar tonight. For those who like aromatics, give it a try and let me know what you think.

Russ - Sounds like something right up my alley.  To tell the truth I was waiting for you to make a dessert tobacco.
I enjoy Firedance Flake and Celtic Talisman but I can't wait to try your new blend. I'm sure Larry would love to try it as well. NOT

Forgive me Larry for I have sinned..................I tried this blend when I was down for the Press Conference on the new tax proposed on cigars and pipe tobacco. Other than seeing Larry in a few nightmares-I had no ill effects- in fact I liked the blend fairly well-but I did go home and smoke 3 bowls of Larry's Blend to get the residue flavor out of the pipe. This would make a nice summer blend or one my wife would not mind me smoking in the house. I suspect Larry would place this as "the Anti-Christ" of pipe blends. Good job Russ.
