Loading ...As we prepare for the Chicago Pipe Show this weekend, a glance into the upcoming summer months promises to be active for the Capital District Pipe Club. Russ and Bob are arriving in Chicago today, while Scotty, Lance and Rick will be arriving on Friday. Here’s to a safe trip for all of them, while we look forward to the many pictures they’ll be taking for us at the event. We’ll be posting pictures while the event is happening, so keep an eye out for those as we receive reports of how it’s going.
Those of us staying in New York this weekend will be preparing for another Capital District Pipe Club sponsored event that we hope becomes a tradition… the Habana Premium Motorcycle Rally and Picnic. So many of the Habana Premium Cigar Shoppe patrons ride motorcycles (as well as owner Scott Bendett, and many of the Pipe Club members), that we thought it would be fun to sponsor a ride together from the shop to Thatcher Park. After the ride, there will be a picnic including hot dogs and hamburgers for all to enjoy. Those not riding a motorcycle to the park that day are welcome to join us by meeting us at the park.
Joe Langford from the Seattle Pipe Club will be joining us at Thatcher Park, and we hope to have another surprise guest or two as well. We’ll post more news on that as it happens.
We’re looking forward to lots of great pictures and stories from the Chicago Show at our May meeting on the 6th. Members are reminded that the Pipe of the Year orders will be finalized at this meeting, so come prepared! We’re also having a member participation side-event at this meeting… a “Best Grain” contest… so bring your most impressive pipes for the “Best straight grain”, “Best Bird’s Eye” and “Best Sandblast” categories. Bragging rights are the only prizes involved, but … who can put a value on THAT?
